The Olsson Family have been making solar sea salt since 1948 and is the oldest family-owned and operated sea salt maker in Australia.
​There are no chemical processes involved in the manufacture of our product, which is why we guarantee it is perfectly natural.
On the southern end of Queensland’s Great Barrier Reef, lies the world heritage Heron Island group near the mouth of the mighty Fitzroy River with its massive 10-metre tides. In between these two landmarks lies Casuarina Creek and the Olsson’s Salt Works lies next to this creek in a place called Port Alma. Built on mangrove mud flats by the Olsson men (Charles, Malcolm and Don) in the 1980s, the Port Alma Salt Works produces a sea salt rich in marine minerals.
